HOUSING FOR TEXAS HEROES GRANTS
The Texas HEROES Grant is funded by Texas Veterans Commission, Awarded projects modify beneficiary-owned housing for accessibility, critical repairs, and/or weatherization purposes.
The Housing for Texas Heroes (H4TXH) Grant Program provides home modifications, repair, and weatherization for veterans and surviving spouses who live in Texas.
Eligible beneficiaries: Very Low and/or Low-income Veterans, Surviving Spouses
- Clients who meet income requirements and are determined a disabled veteran by the VA are the highest priority for services and wait lists.
- Clients must be listed on file with the county appraisal district as the current owner(s) of the property.
- Clients must be current on existing mortgage loans or home equity loans.
- Clients must be current on property taxes or deferred by the county appraisal district. 6. Property receiving services must be the client’s primary residence and located in Texas.
Home Modification
Projects to improve home accessibility and quality of life for independent living. Modifications may include (but are not limited to) walkways, ramps, sliding doors, handrails, kitchen and bathroom modifications.
Critical Home Repairs
Includes (but not limited to) plumbing, electrical, interior walls, flooring, and lighting.
Home Weatherization
Includes (but not limited to) doors, windows, siding, and roofing.
This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. For more information, visit www.tvc.texas.gov.
