Executive Director Statement

My name is Miguel Chacon, and I am the Executive Director of our organization. I am delighted to have the opportunity to connect with you and share a bit about our mission and my personal journey.

With over 24 years of dedicated service in the non-profit sector, my career started at the U.S. Mexico Border Health Association, an affiliate of the Panamerican Health Organization. This early experience immersed me deeply in the realities and needs of our community, shaping my commitment to service and advocacy.

As an immigrant from Mexico who arrived in this country at 18, I have personally navigated the same paths and faced the same challenges that many of our community members experience when they arrive in the United States. These experiences have not only made me aware but also deeply sensitive to the needs and struggles of our migrant community.

For more than 18 years, I have worked tirelessly advocating for safe, affordable housing for the people of the Colonias of El Paso County. I firmly believe in the fundamental right to housing, and I’m dedicated to making this a reality for our communities.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting and computer information systems from the University of Texas at El Paso. This academic foundation has been essential in ensuring our operations are effective, efficient, and transparent.

My work goes beyond housing. I passionately advocate for the basic needs of the people of the Colonias, low-income, and migrant communities of the state of Texas. The fight for adequate food, comprehensive education, accessible healthcare, and inclusion for all is at the heart of what we do.

Together, through our work at AYUDA, Inc., we strive to build a community where every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive. It is a great honor to serve and to work towards a better future for all. I look forward to continuing this journey with you.

Sincerely,

Miguel Chacon
